About

AI Empire Media is an independent publication about what AI actually costs.

Not the advertised price. The real one, after the tier you needed turned out to be the tier above, after the API overages landed, after the tool you cancelled kept billing for four months.

We cover AI pricing, hidden costs, and tool comparisons for people who have to make a decision and be able to defend it afterwards.

Why This Site Exists

AI pricing is deliberately hard to compare. Vendors publish per-million-token rates that mean nothing until you model your own usage. They rename tiers. They fold a standalone product into a bundle and quietly retire the old plan. They cut a price for new customers and leave existing ones where they were.

Most coverage of this is either a press release with the serial numbers filed off, or a listicle assembled by someone who has never paid an AI bill.

We do something narrower and more useful. We check the vendor’s own pricing page. We check what changed since the last time we looked. We publish the number with a link to where it came from, and when the number moves, we go back and fix the article.

How We Work

Every figure carries a source. If we quote a price, a benchmark, or a statistic, there is a link to where it came from. If we cannot find a source for something, we say so rather than filling the gap with a plausible-sounding number.

We do not invent experience. We do not claim to have tested tools we have not used, run audits we have not run, or interviewed people we have not spoken to. Where an article draws on genuine hands-on use, we say whose and in what context. Where it is analysis of published information, we say that instead.

We update rather than abandon. AI pricing decays fast. Articles carry a visible last-updated date, and the ones covering fast-moving topics get revisited on a schedule rather than left to rot at the top of a search result.

We correct in public. When we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. In 2026 we audited every article on this site against primary sources and rewrote the ones that did not hold up. Several contained figures we could not substantiate. Those articles were corrected or removed.

Our full approach to sourcing, corrections, and the role of AI tools in our workflow is set out in our Editorial Standards.

What We Cover

AI pricing breakdowns. What each major model and subscription actually costs, per tier, with the fine print that changes the answer.

Hidden costs. Rate limits, API overages, seat inflation, annual renewals nobody is watching, the second subscription you bought because the first one throttled you.

Tool comparisons. Head-to-head analysis of models and platforms, with an honest account of where the benchmarks disagree and where a vendor is measuring itself with its own ruler.

Cost control. Practical ways for small teams and solo operators to spend less without giving up capability.

Who Writes This

Mahdi Ayadi writes and edits AI Empire Media.

He spent seven years in B2B SaaS sales, moving from cybersecurity software to marketing technology to travel tech, and from SDR to Account Executive to running a regional team. That work meant living inside the tools he now writes about: the CRMs, the sequencers, the enrichment platforms, and more recently the AI assistants layered on top of them. It also meant watching a lot of companies buy software they did not need at prices they did not understand.

That is the perspective this site is written from. Not a lab. Not a venture fund. Someone who has sat on both sides of a software purchase.

How We Make Money

We sell our own products directly, including Notion templates for tracking project scope and software subscriptions. Those are our products, not affiliate placements, and we say so when we mention them.

We plan to fund the site’s ongoing work through advertising and, where relevant, affiliate commissions. We do not currently run either. When we do, ads will be visually distinct from articles, affiliate links will be disclosed in the article that contains them, and neither arrangement will touch editorial.

Advertisers will not see articles before publication. Affiliate partners will not influence what we recommend or how we rank it. We routinely recommend tools that would pay us nothing, and we routinely advise against tools that would pay us well. The full terms are in our Affiliate Disclosure.
